From the luxury of your lodge at Tallington Lakes, there are many places you can visit. Here are some of our favourites.

Burghley House - 6 miles

Burghley is one of the largest and grandest surviving houses of the sixteenth century and a magnificent example of the great Elizabethan ‘prodigy’ houses.

Explore Burghley House and its incredible collection of fine art, displayed in breathtaking chambers rich in history, and enclosed in exquisite architecture. Step outside and discover the Secret Garden. the magical, hidden garden has a mirror maze, water features to cool you on the hottest days, and lots of places to have a picnic.

Please note that dogs are more than welcome in the Parkland area but are not allowed in the Gardens or the House.

Bourne Wood - 9 miles

Bourne Wood is a quiet, ancient woodland which offers a wonderful mixture of tracks and meandering trails. It is the perfect place for walkers, dogs and nature lovers. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of kingfishers or herons by one of the ponds. 

Situated to the west of Bourne, the main car park leads to a wide track that disappears into the wood. Numerous paths lead off to both sides allowing everyone to experience the tranquil wood and indulge in wildlife spotting. 

Rutland Water- 12 miles

Take a gentle stroll on a summer’s day or visit during the cooler seasons, Rutland Water will always provide a perfect setting for walkers at any time of the year.

With many different walking trails and routes to discover, no two visits will ever be the same.

One of Rutland Water’s most recognisable features is the Normanton Church, which was preserved from demolition when Rutland Water was created.  It is a wonderful site and offers the ideal setting for your Rutland selfie!

There is also a Park Run here every Saturday morning.

Stamford - 6 miles

Stamford offers a unique blend of history, Georgian architecture and quality shopping. It was declared a conservation area in 1967 and has over 600 listed buildings including 5 Medieval churches. Stamford is considered a delightful and picturesque town full of character. 

Stamford boasts a wide variety of coffee shops, restaurants and a vast range of retailers to entice you. The Town was named as having one of the best high streets in the county in 2023. There is also a bustling market every Friday.
