It was the day of the Ernie Ward Memorial Cup. Ernie lived and breathed water skiing and was instrumental in developing the water-skiing facilities here at Tallington Lakes.

We invited friends to Rolo’s Lodge and enjoyed a lovely sunny afternoon sitting out on the decking watching the water skiers compete. We put on a lunch with a glass or two of Prosecco and watched water skiers of all ages and abilities battle it out right in front of our lodge.

There were 3 sessions: slalom, free-style and finally water ski jumping. They definitely saved the best till last. It’s difficult to describe the sound that a water skier makes as they land a jump, but it is louder than you expect!! We have attached a video of one of the best jumps.

We have to say that we think that there is no better way to spend an afternoon than lounging on our decking, watching some water skiing whilst enjoying some nibbles and a glass of Prosecco.
